Registered Nurse – Recovery (Tshwane)

About the role

The Recovery Unit is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide safe, cost‑effective, and high‑quality post‑operative care. You will act as a role model for evidence‑based practice, supporting patients as they emerge from anaesthesia and surgery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, control and replenish recovery room stock and daily procedure lists.
• Receive patients into the recovery unit and monitor physiological parameters.
• Deliver appropriate treatment until patients recover from anaesthesia effects.
• Evaluate care at each phase and ensure holistic patient support.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and conduct regular audits.
• Ensure equipment and emergency resuscitation drugs are ready and recorded.
• Manage stock, maintain a safe, clean environment and uphold patient privacy.
• Mentor junior staff and support professional development, including CPR competence.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Diploma in General Nursing.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in post‑operative and surgical settings.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and theatre‑specific nursing practices.

Required skills

• CPR certification (BLS/ACLS).
• Patient physiological monitoring.
• Stock management and inventory control.
• Clinical documentation and audit compliance.
