Registered Nurse – Neonatal ICU

About the role

The Life Springs Parkland Hospital is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse with Neonatal ICU expertise. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the nurse will deliver holistic, high‑quality care to critically ill newborns and support their families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic and specialised nursing care to NICU patients.
• Communicate continuously with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
• Administer medication in line with ethical and legal standards.
• Maintain compliance with internal policies, protocols, and quality management systems.
• Advocate for patients, coordinate case management, and inform doctors of any concerns.
• Manage stock, staff hours, and leave according to company policies.
• Ensure infection control and SHEQ standards are met.
• Conduct equipment checks daily and report any faults.
• Educate and supervise staff on the use of specialised NICU equipment.
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with legal requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Nursing.
• Diploma in Critical Care Science (preferred).
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Experience working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
• Strong customer orientation, energetic, well‑organised team player.
