Regional Organiser – Gauteng Province (2 positions)

About the role

The union is seeking two Regional Organisers to lead worker mobilisation and representation across the Gauteng Province. The role involves organising members, supporting collective bargaining, and providing legal representation where needed.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and recruit workers within the union’s scope.
• Coordinate collective bargaining activities and lead negotiations with local companies and institutions.
• Build strong branches, shop‑steward committees and sub‑structures to deliver high‑quality member services.
• Train and support shop stewards and office bearers.
• Collaborate with the Paralegal Officer to develop a regional paralegal team for disciplinary, conciliation and arbitration matters.
• Represent members in grievance and disciplinary hearings when shop stewards are unavailable, and refer cases to appropriate forums.
• Submit monthly reports and programmes to the Regional Secretary and PHOSEC.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Formal qualification in labour law or labour relations.
• Experience working within a trade‑union movement.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office packages.
• Ability to draft agreements.
• Strong organising and recruitment capabilities.
• Effective communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence.
