Regional Manager - Southern Hub, Cape Region

About the role

Old Mutual is looking for a strategic leader to become Regional Manager for the Southern Hub within the Cape region, based in Cape Town. The role drives the commercial success of a large sales territory and places the candidate at the heart of the regional executive committee, shaping strategy and fostering a high-performance culture. It suits an experienced people-leader who can manage complexity, overseeing about eight Business Managers and their combined team of roughly 120 financial advisers.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the Regional EXCO by aligning the area's business plan with the organisation's vision and mission.
• Set clear, measurable KPIs for direct reports and take corrective action when needed.
• Drive sales growth by building internal and external networks, identifying new prospects and representing Old Mutual at high-level industry events.
• Work with service and support functions so sales processes are seamless, compliant and optimised for client delivery.
• Identify skill gaps and run structured development programmes to build a talent pipeline.
• Oversee financial resources, including revenue and expense budgets for the department.
• Hold the area accountable for sales targets, market share growth and the recruitment and retention of top advisory talent.
• Guard the brand by keeping advice practices compliant and embedding risk management in daily branch operations.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5-10 years in a management position leading sales-driven teams in the financial sector.
• Solid foundation in the financial services sector and understanding of the regulatory landscape.
• Strong decision-making skills, a client-first mindset and the ability to lead through influence.
• Grade 12 certificate is the minimum; FAIS accreditation (NQF5, 120 credits) and full product holding accreditation are required.
• A CFP designation or formal coaching/management qualifications are highly desirable.
