Regional Fresh Food Manager – Supermarkets (Port Elizabeth & Durban)

About the role

The Regional Fresh Food Manager will oversee perishable departments—including butchery, deli, bakery, and produce—across two supermarket locations in Port Elizabeth and Durban. The role focuses on driving sales, ensuring food safety, and maintaining high product quality while maximizing profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all fresh‑food departments follow corporate policies, SOPs, and brand standards.
• Monitor and enforce food safety, sanitation, and health regulations across the region.
• Conduct regular store walk‑throughs to assess product freshness, visual presentation, and customer service.
• Set sales targets, track financial performance, and achieve profit‑margin goals.
• Analyze inventory data to reduce waste, manage markdowns, and optimise product rotation.
• Collaborate on pricing strategies and local promotions to drive revenue.
• Oversee regional stock levels, procurement of fresh ingredients, and supplier relationships.
• Recruit, train, and mentor store managers and department staff in culinary techniques and customer service.
• Establish KPIs, evaluate performance, and provide feedback to store teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in all supermarket divisions (butchery, deli, bakery, produce).
• Strong management and leadership abilities.
