Quantity Surveyor (WASA50030)

About the role

The City of Ekurhuleni is recruiting a full-time Quantity Surveyor (WASA50030) to advise on the estimation and monitoring of project costs from project initiation to completion, in line with set standards, procedures and policy. The postholder also takes part in specialist practice and knowledge management.

Key responsibilities

• Measure work to be completed regularly for payment programming and draft monthly payment certificates.
• Review standard contract documents and align them to CIDB, GCC, NEC, JBCC and FIDIC and MFMA.
• Prepare and conduct Quality Contracts Assurance Audits and assist project management with contract documents.
• Assist with tender evaluation where necessary.
• Provide feedback on governance, risk and compliance practices and escalate unresolved issues; ensure financial administration complies with internal control and governance standards.
• Alert the Project Engineer, Technologists and Technicians to amendments and changes in standards, and adhere to standards, policies and SOPs to prevent waste and escalate associated risks.
• Contribute to service delivery within the division in line with the Batho Pele principles and share product, process and system knowledge gained through formal and informal learning.

Required profile

• Grade 12.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying at NQF Level 7.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in a relevant environment.
• Candidates may be asked to submit proof of the NQF level of their qualification.
