Quality Fabric Inspector

About the role

The Quality Fabric Inspector will ensure that all incoming fabric batches meet the company’s quality standards before they enter production. This role involves thorough testing, documentation, and reporting of fabric characteristics and any defects identified.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and test fabrics against predetermined quality standards, covering texture, feel, colour, shrinkage, weight, and other characteristics.
• Inspect 10% of all bulk receipts and complete detailed inspection charts.
• Maintain and update shade variance reports and a systematic Sample Library.
• Take cuttings of defective material and attach them to inspection records for reference.
• Measure fabric width accurately and ensure tolerance levels are not exceeded.
• Carry fabric rolls up to 50 kg safely while adhering to housekeeping and safety standards.
• Perform any additional tasks associated with the position in a timely manner.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 certificate with post‑matric qualifications in Textile Technology or Quality Management.
• 2–5 years of hands‑on quality inspection experience in clothing manufacturing, textile mills, or home‑goods environments.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and collaborate within a team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of woven, knit and non‑woven fabric types.
• Understanding of textile production and garment construction processes.
• Ability to maintain accurate daily inspection records and generate quality reports.
