Quality Coordinator

About the role

SGS, a global inspection, verification, testing and certification company, is looking for a Quality Coordinator in Rustenburg. The role ensures the laboratory's quality assurance programme is effective and efficient, protects the integrity of its services and keeps the ISO 17025 accreditation secure.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute scientific and technical leadership and planning so the quality assurance programme is effective and efficient, and ensure quality requirements are not compromised.
• Handle all SANAS accreditation and compliance matters and safeguard the ISO 17025 accreditation.
• Identify non-conformances in a timely, unbiased way and stop work that endangers quality or safety, reporting to a higher authority.
• Maintain an up-to-date scope of testing and coordinate documentation and standard operating procedures for ISO accreditation.
• Evaluate data in a quality role without giving opinions or interpretations, and facilitate and monitor method validation.
• Coordinate and administer the improvement system, and assist with root cause analysis of proficiency tests, customer complaints, audit findings and improvement requests.
• Plan, schedule and perform quality assessments, and provide planned quality-related training and awareness.
• Facilitate and plan management reviews, ensure integrity of monthly inputs into the QSHE report, and develop a document control system aligned with ISO requirements.
• Guide laboratory personnel on quality control and documentation, give feedback to the manager on quality status, and build relationships with staff, suppliers and clients.
• Comply with health, safety and environmental laws and regulations; travel, shift work and overtime may be required.

Required profile

• BSc degree or diploma in science.
• ISO or college Quality Assurance Program diploma.
• 5 years of work experience in a laboratory testing environment.
• 5 years of experience with ISO systems (ISO 9000, 17025 or other).
• Self-motivated, good verbal and communication skills, able to multi-task, with strong attention to detail and effective planning and organisation.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft software experience.
• Document and report writing experience.
• Statistical Quality Control knowledge is advantageous.
