Qualified Motor Mechanic

About the role

An established automotive business in Johannesburg is looking for a reliable and experienced Qualified Motor Mechanic. You will be responsible for general vehicle maintenance, mechanical repairs, fault‑finding and automotive electrical work, ensuring high‑quality repairs and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs on motor vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Conduct automotive electrical testing, fault‑finding and repairs on wiring, batteries, alternators, starters, lighting systems and sensors.
• Use diagnostic equipment and tools to identify vehicle faults.
• Inspect vehicles, identify required repairs or maintenance and complete work efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
• Keep the workshop and working areas clean, organised and safe.
• Communicate identified faults and repair requirements clearly to management.

Required profile

• A recognised motor mechanic qualification or trade test.
• At least five years of relevant experience as a motor mechanic.
• Proven experience in general vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in automotive electrical systems and fault‑finding.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, responsible and attentive to detail.
