Project Manager (Survey)

About the role

eThekwini is recruiting a Project Manager (Survey) in Durban. The role covers project planning, estimation and allocation, team leadership and the management of survey projects, including mapping, levelling, topography and construction surveys.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, estimate and allocate work; manage projects and act as team lead
• Control mapping-grade global positioning systems and establish survey control
• Perform levelling, semi-precise and precise levelling, and detailed topographical surveys
• Carry out encroachment, construction, cross-section, long-section, monitoring and as-built surveys
• Prepare hand plans and deal in land legal matters
• Calculate earthwork volumes and areas, locate and point out beacons
• Use specialised survey computer software and hardware
• Liaise with the public, community leaders, contractors and other technical staff, and handle administrative duties

Required profile

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Geomatics or Surveying, registered as a Geomatics Technician with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC)
• Certificate in Project Management
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence
• 4 years of relevant experience; a degree (NQF Level 7) and 5 years' experience preferred
• Computer literacy; must be able to work outdoors
