Project Manager – Sales & Distribution (Intermediary)

About the role

Discovery is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to lead high‑quality systems projects across multiple business areas within its Sales & Distribution function. The role focuses on delivering projects that meet business requirements, adhere to Project Management standards, and transition smoothly to operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, define scope and sequence activities for complex projects.
• Manage resources from initiation to closure, coordinating kick‑off meetings and stakeholder communication.
• Develop detailed schedules, time and cost estimates, and maintain project budgets.
• Report progress, control documentation, and manage risks, issues and dependencies.
• Obtain governance approvals and ensure quality standards are met.
• Lead and mentor junior project staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Influence internal partners, external vendors and business units to achieve project objectives.

Required profile

• Matriculation (essential) and a Business degree (NQF Level 6) with a project management focus.
• PMBOK Project Management Diploma (NQF Level 5) and Agile certification (essential).
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience, including at least 3 years in the financial services sector.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, waterfall and agile methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Project for planning and scheduling.
• Experience using JIRA and Confluence for agile delivery and documentation.
