Project Manager (Durban)

About the role

The Project Manager will be the single point of accountability for engineering and construction projects from concept through to close‑out. Reporting to the Business Unit head, the role combines technical problem‑solving with full project‑management discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, analyse and resolve complex construction‑related engineering problems, providing calculations and technical justification.
• Develop and maintain integrated project programmes, cost‑management procedures and procurement strategies.
• Administer construction contracts (JBCC, NEC, FIDIC, GCC), manage site instructions, payment certifications and variations.
• Chair site, technical and progress meetings, prepare minutes and action items.
• Oversee quality assurance, risk registers, health‑and‑safety compliance and project close‑out documentation.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers and ensure professional registration requirements are met.

Required profile

• BSc/BEng/BTech in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (NQF Level 7/8).
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Techni/Pr Tech Eng/Pr Eng) – registration with SACPCMP is an advantage.
• 8+ years post‑qualification experience, including at least 5 years leading medium‑to‑large construction projects.
• Proven experience administering South African standard contracts (JBCC, NEC, GCC, FIDIC).
• Valid driver’s licence.
