Project Engineer I

About the role

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is looking for a Project Engineer I to plan, coordinate and execute technical projects for mining systems across South Africa. The role blends engineering expertise with project management, covering the full lifecycle from design through testing and hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, manage resources and monitor progress.
• Deploy complex mining solutions on‑site, support and maintain software, and deliver bespoke customisations.
• Troubleshoot system issues, configure customer systems and implement custom scripts.
• Escalate critical technical problems and work with Mining Services and other support teams to resolve them.
• Provide regular status reports, risk updates and ensure compliance with health, safety and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with sales in pre‑sales activities, delivering technical presentations and advising on potential customer issues.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current and upcoming Hexagon product offerings and industry technologies.

Required profile

• Strong high‑level knowledge of mining systems and their deployment.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Must reside within South Africa.
