Professor/Associate Professor in Ichthyology & Fisheries Science

About the role

The Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science seeks qualified candidates for a Professor or Associate Professor position. The role involves leading teaching, research, and community engagement activities within the discipline of aquaculture and fisheries science.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in aquaculture, including topics such as sustainable aquaculture, ecosystems‑based aquaculture, aquaculture systems, fish health and nutrition.
• Supervise Master's and PhD research projects to successful completion.
• Develop and maintain an active research programme, publish findings, and attract external funding.
• Participate in departmental, faculty, and university governance, assuming administrative and leadership duties.
• Engage with industry and community stakeholders to promote the department’s expertise.

Required profile

• PhD in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, or a closely related field with a strong focus on aquaculture.
• Extensive teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Demonstrated record of research publications and successful grant acquisition.
• Experience supervising Master's and PhD students.
• National or international reputation in the discipline.
• Evidence of administrative, management, or leadership roles.
