Professional Nurse – Medical 2

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse (Medical 2) to join its multidisciplinary team. The role involves delivering safe, comprehensive nursing care in line with scope of practice regulations and contributing to a positive patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Support staff development and competence through a learning environment.
• Ensure accurate charting of all stock and equipment used.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse or a 4‑year Nursing Diploma/Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery or specialised postgraduate diploma (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units – preferred.
• No minimum experience required.

Required skills

• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) for specialised wards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to develop and modify nursing care plans.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control.
• Understanding of nursing processes, procedures and record‑keeping.
• Patient assessment skills.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Familiarity with relevant nursing legislation and risk identification.
• Application of scientific nursing principles.
