About the role

Western Cape Blood Services is seeking a dedicated Professional Nurse to join its Donor Division at the Paarl Regional Branch. In this role you will be responsible for safeguarding donor health, conducting medical screenings, and ensuring the collection of safe, high‑quality blood products. The position is integral to the organisation’s mission of providing reliable blood services throughout the Western Cape.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the overall health and safety of blood donors during the donation process.
• Perform medical screening of donors, making decisions to accept or defer based on clinical criteria.
• Ensure professional, hygienic conditions for successful blood collection.
• Make all medical‑related decisions in accordance with established protocols.
• Document donor assessments and outcomes accurately.

Required profile

• Registered professional nurse with a valid nursing license.
• Self‑motivated, disciplined, and detail‑oriented.
• Strong commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
