Production Manager – Wet Condiments (Johannesburg)

About the role

The Wet Condiments Category of Libstar is seeking a hands‑on Production Manager to lead daily production activities at its Johannesburg site. You will be responsible for executing production plans, meeting safety, quality and delivery targets, and driving continuous improvement across the factory floor.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily and weekly production plans to achieve output, quality, cost, waste and delivery targets.
• Monitor shift performance and take corrective action when standards or timelines are at risk.
• Lead, coach and develop supervisors, team leaders and operators to build a disciplined, accountable team.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, hygiene and traceability requirements.
• Track key production indicators such as yield, waste, downtime and labour efficiency.
• Partner with Maintenance to manage breakdown response, planned maintenance and equipment readiness.
• Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety procedures and incident reporting.
• Prepare and present production reports and collaborate with Planning, Logistics, Procurement, Quality and NPD teams.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Production Management, Operations Management, Food Technology, Engineering or a related field.
• 5–8 years experience in FMCG or food manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a production leadership role.
• Strong production leadership in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on, visible leadership style with a focus on safety, quality and efficiency.
• Ability to make timely operational decisions and work effectively across departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with ERP or manufacturing execution systems.
• Knowledge of production reporting tools and data‑driven performance analysis.
