Production Manager

About the role

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production process to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety. This role involves managing production schedules, supervising staff, maintaining equipment, and driving continuous improvement to meet organisational goals while coordinating with other departments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement production plans to meet sales and distribution requirements.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Lead daily team meetings to align on targets and address operational issues.
• Ensure daily production targets are met and manage deviations promptly.
• Conduct regular quality control checks and address identified issues.
• Oversee inventory levels and manage procurement in line with demand forecasts.
• Supervise production staff, provide coaching, and conduct performance evaluations.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, conduct safety audits, and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor equipment performance, coordinate scheduled maintenance, and address repairs.
• Track and analyse production metrics, prepare reports, and present performance to senior management.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Matric or equivalent).
• Proven work experience within the industry.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Knowledge of poultry production processes.
• Understanding of food safety and quality control standards.
• Familiarity with processing equipment.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Experience in inventory management.
• Ability to schedule production effectively.
