Product Manager - Retail Media

About the role

The Takealot Group is expanding its digital ecosystem and is looking for a Product Manager to lead its Retail Media initiatives. Based at the group's headquarters in Cape Town, the role sits at the intersection of product development and advertising technology, driving the growth of the retail media portfolio across web, iOS and Android. It is a hands-on position bridging engineering, design and business units, with a focus on balancing technical requirements with business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage the retail media roadmap so that prioritisation aligns with the Takealot Group's broader goals.
• Draft comprehensive product requirement documents (PRDs) that communicate features to engineering and design teams.
• Lead the execution and launch of new features across mobile and web platforms.
• Analyse customer data and market trends to identify improvement opportunities.
• Work with the UX team to validate feature ideas and solve customer pain points.
• Maintain reporting systems that track project performance and highlight areas for optimisation.
• Resolve conflicting priorities between internal stakeholders to keep the project timeline on track.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years in product management, ideally in a tech-focused or mobile application environment.
• Tertiary degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems preferred; relevant industry experience will be considered.
• Results-oriented professional with a strong technical background, analytical skills and project management experience.
• History of taking products from planning through to successful market launch.

Required skills

• Proven use of product analytics tools such as Firebase, Google Analytics or Amplitude.
• Deep understanding of conversion rate optimisation and ability to run sophisticated funnel analysis.
