Product Control Specialist, Transaction Banking

About the role

Standard Bank Group is looking for a Product Control Specialist within its Transaction Banking, Investor Services Product, CIB Finance team in Johannesburg. The role helps build a scalable, standardised and control-led Transaction Banking Product Control capability across Africa regions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in building a scalable, standardised and control-led Transaction Banking Product Control capability across Africa regions.
• Reconcile and substantiate the balance sheet and income statement signed monthly for group finance and annually for external audit.
• Define and influence the implementation of change projects that improve month-end reporting and controls.
• Assess the risk of on- and off-balance sheet exposures so that risk is managed and mitigated in line with the bank's credit policy.

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance and Accounting.
• Professional membership such as CA (SA), CFA or CIMA.
• 3-4 years of product control or finance experience, preferably in Transaction Banking or Corporate & Investment Banking.
• 3-4 years of Africa regions exposure or experience working with multi-country finance, product control or governance stakeholders.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of accounting and financial systems, including SAP and source/sub-ledger environments such as GBM, Finacle or T24.
• IFRS knowledge and practical understanding of balance sheet substantiation, P&L reporting, reconciliations, financial controls and audit evidence.
• Process documentation, operating procedures, automation initiatives, financial accounting reviews, root cause analysis and project execution.
