Procurement Officer – Durban

About the role

Icebolethu Group is looking for two detail‑oriented Procurement Officers to manage end‑to‑end purchasing for its business units in Durban. The role involves sourcing high‑quality goods and services, negotiating competitive pricing, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Receive purchase requisitions, define specifications with user departments, and obtain competitive quotations from accredited suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and settlement discounts to achieve cost efficiencies while maintaining quality standards.
• Issue purchase orders in line with company governance and maintain audit‑ready records of orders, quotes and approvals.
• Build and sustain strong supplier relationships, evaluate vendor performance and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in preparing purchase budget estimates, maintain accurate purchasing databases and follow up on long‑outstanding orders.
• Verify that delivered products meet agreed specifications and resolve procurement or invoicing queries promptly.
• Communicate purchasing procedures and governance guidelines to ensure compliance across the organisation.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration or a related field.
• 2–3 years of proven experience in a dedicated procurement or purchasing role.
• Strong analytical capabilities, sound judgment and proven price‑negotiation skills.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage queries and interact comfortably with staff and management at all levels.
• High attention to detail, ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to shifting priorities.
