Procurement Manager

About the role

The Procurement Manager will lead tactical commercial activities—including sourcing, contracting, and purchasing—for Kumba Iron Ore in South Africa. This role ensures safe, effective value delivery, streamlined execution, and increased community supplier participation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver an integrated, seamless supply chain service, anticipating issues and mobilising rapid responses.
• Represent Supply Chain in business committees and provide market trend feedback to executive stakeholders.
• Partner in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement value‑chain efficiency.
• Own end‑to‑end procurement performance, supplier and contract management, and handover to site teams.
• Execute purchasing activities, issue and approve purchase orders, support supplier negotiations, and monitor performance.
• Lead digitalisation of procurement activities and promote adoption of digital tools.
• Manage buying channels to streamline procurement and mitigate risk.
• Maintain a commercial planning pipeline with 12‑month visibility.
• Resolve escalated supplier performance issues and make contract award decisions within delegation authority.
• Integrate community considerations into all commercial strategies and agreements.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in procurement and supply chain management.
