Process Engineer

About the role

Syngenta Seeds Field Crops is seeking a Process Engineer for its manufacturing site in Brits, South Africa. The role will support new product and technology integration, drive data‑driven performance improvement and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the formulation and fill‑and‑pack plants.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, design and implement process improvements that boost efficiency, quality, safety and cost performance across formulation and F&P plants.
• Lead and manage engineering projects, coordinating with design contractors following Syngenta’s standard project methodology.
• Champion manufacturing excellence by delivering initiatives that increase OEE, reduce unit operating cost, and enhance reliability, safety and environmental performance.
• Oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process, ensuring all plant modifications are reviewed, approved and executed.
• Support Process Safety Management activities, including MOC closure, safety information upkeep, incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Provide technical support to production supervisors to drive OEE improvements on formulation and fill‑and‑pack lines.
• Ensure the production order process is well managed and executed in line with HSEQ and engineering standards.
• Act as the local expert for formulation and F&P technologies, delivering day‑to‑day technical assistance.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in chemical formulation and process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of process safety, Management of Change and HSEQ regulations.
• Experience managing engineering projects and working with external design contractors.
• Ability to analyse data, identify bottlenecks and implement continuous‑improvement solutions.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
