Post Investment Financial Analyst

About the role

The Post Investment unit in Johannesburg is looking for a Financial Analyst on a 12-month fixed-term contract, reporting to the Post Investment Manager. The role supports Post Investment Associates by analysing deals and making sure the financial models are appropriate for seamless revenue collection.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse deals and provide comprehensive financial analysis using approved financial modelling for existing portfolio companies
• Analyse, compile and report on market information on a deal-by-deal basis
• Contribute to the development of a business development strategy for portfolio companies when required
• Build knowledge of corporate finance, the private equity macro environment, sectors and transactions to recommend mitigation measures for key risks
• Take part in due diligence for additional funding or restructuring, using approved processes
• Comment on finance and legal structures so that investments remain sustainable and viable
• Analyse company results, profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements to assess commercial viability
• Consider economic factors that could affect portfolio company performance
• Analyse equity valuations semi-annually and make annual site visits to investee companies
• Flag early signs of potential defaults

Required profile

• Graduate degree, minimum B.Com (Business and Finance, Accounting)
• 2 to 5 years of financial analysis experience
• Generalist in corporate finance with some private equity experience
• Strong project management, corporate finance and/or venture capital experience (at least 5 years)
• Analytical, assertive, entrepreneurial and highly effective communicator with strong time management and integrity

Required skills

• PC literacy is essential
• Knowledge of Excel is important, as the role involves financial modelling and projections
