About the role
The Fresh Produce Exporters Forum (FPEF) Graduate Placement Program offers a one‑year internship in post‑harvest fruit quality management across several South African export companies. This role provides hands‑on experience in analysing quality reports, liaising with international clients and growers, and supporting the commercial side of the fresh‑fruit trade.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse fruit quality reports received from overseas clients and capture the data in the internal system.
- Identify root causes of quality issues and assess the validity of client claims.
- Communicate with clients to clarify or challenge claims and with growers to explain findings.
- Maintain accurate records and perform routine administrative tasks related to stock management.
Required profile
- BSc degree in Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Food Science or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to work under pressure.
- High computer literacy and willingness to learn the stock management system.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication; Afrikaans beneficial.
- South African citizenship, under 30 years old; preference given to previously disadvantaged candidates.
