Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant

About the role

The Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant will work at Life Entabeni Hospital, reporting directly to the Senior Pharmacist. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality pharmaceutical services, ensuring accurate medication supply to patients, wards, and theatre, and supporting stock procurement and management.

Key responsibilities

• Process inpatient prescriptions and credits under pharmacist supervision.
• Dispense medication in line with SAPC scope of practice.
• Issue ward and theatre stock, replenish after‑hours cupboards, and perform cycle counts and quarterly stock takes.
• Handle procurement, stock management, and variance investigations.
• Perform retail dispensing and other duties as directed by the line manager.

Required profile

• Qualified Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant registered with SAPC.
• Experience in hospital and retail pharmacy environments.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation, frameworks, and product ranges.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including late shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving abilities.
