Portfolio Brand Manager – Marketing Spirits

About the role

KWV, a leading South African producer of premium wines and spirits, is seeking a Portfolio Brand Manager for its spirits portfolio in Paarl. Reporting to the Executive of Marketing Spirits, you will be responsible for shaping brand strategy, driving consumer demand and delivering commercial results.

Key responsibilities

• Define brand objectives and lead the development and execution of consumer‑focused brand plans, including communication, innovation and activation.
• Contribute to long‑term portfolio strategy and manage price hierarchies, pack ladders and market‑specific positioning.
• Monitor consumer trends, competitor activity and brand performance to inform decisions and identify growth opportunities.
• Oversee brand financials – P&L tracking, A&P budget management, inventory planning and COGS efficiency.
• Lead innovation projects from concept through launch, ensuring commercial viability and brand alignment.

Required profile

• A tertiary qualification in Marketing, Brand Management or a related field.
• 5–8 years of brand management experience in the FMCG industry, preferably with alcoholic or premium brands.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with hands‑on experience managing brand P&L and A&P budgets.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable transport and willingness to travel locally.

Required skills

• Ability to generate actionable insights from data, market information and brand performance.
• Proficiency in interpreting performance dashboards and financial reports.
• Knowledge of on‑ and off‑trade dynamics and ability to recommend effective in‑store activations.
• Experience leading innovation projects, including business case development, pricing and packaging.
• Understanding of social and digital media platforms and content performance metrics.
