Plumber and General Maintenance Technician

About the role

WNS Global Services, part of Capgemini, is looking for a Plumber and General Maintenance Technician in Cape Town. The role covers general building maintenance, basic plumbing and non-certified electrical work, with a focus on keeping facilities running smoothly and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs on walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows and furniture.
• Carry out regular inspections and preventive maintenance to uphold facility standards.
• Handle basic plumbing issues such as clearing drains, repairing leaks, replacing taps and managing minor pipework.
• Complete basic electrical tasks (non-certified) such as replacing bulbs, fuses and plug points.
• Track and maintain facility tools, equipment and assets.
• Supervise and liaise with third-party contractors during site visits, installations or repairs to ensure policy compliance.
• Stay compliant with health, safety and internal company protocols.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance incidents.
• Assist with office layout changes, furniture reconfiguration and minor installations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work records.

Required profile

• Minimum 1-2 years' experience in general building maintenance roles.
• Qualified red seal trade-tested Plumber.
• Strong commitment to health and safety and compliance with facility protocols.
• Own mobile phone and availability for Monday to Friday shift work.
• Preferred: at least 1 year's experience, ability to work independently, general building work training, familiarity with OSHACT and a driver's licence.

Required skills

• Computer literacy and good communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
• Reliable, self-motivated and customer-service oriented, able to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent under pressure, detail-oriented, adaptable to change and willing to work overtime with adequate notice.
