Planning Officer

About the role

The Planning Officer will be responsible for investigating, planning, designing and estimating customer electrical connections for low voltage networks in Durban. The role involves interaction with consultants, contractors, consumers and communities while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and providing on‑the‑job training to junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate, plan, design and estimate customer connections.
• Interact with consultants, contractors, consumers and communities.
• Assess the capabilities of low voltage networks.
• Comply with safe working practices and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Provide on‑the‑job training to learners and junior staff.
• Compile reports, graphs and statistics.

Required profile

• Trade Tested Artisan (Electrician).
• NTC2 or NCV3 qualification in Electrical Engineering from a recognized college.
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence.
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
• Physically capable of carrying out job requirements.

Required skills

• Electrician (Trade Tested Artisan).
• Electrical Engineering qualification (NTC2/NCV3).
• Low voltage network assessment.
