About the role
Hatch is seeking an experienced P&ID Designer to join its Project Delivery Group in Johannesburg. The role involves creating and managing P&ID drawings within Bentley’s OpenPlant environment for large‑scale mining, energy and infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and produce P&ID drawings and related deliverables using OpenPlant or SmartPlant.
- Coordinate with lead engineers and designers to ensure timely completion of design packages.
- Review, check and assure the quality of own and team drawings.
- Maintain accurate data in the OpenPlant data manager throughout the drawing lifecycle.
- Apply industry best practices, Hatch procedures and safety standards to all outputs.
Required profile
- Diploma in Instrumentation, Piping, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of P&ID design experience on multidisciplinary EPCM projects.
- Strong attention to detail, quality‑focused and able to work under schedule pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Bentley OpenPlant and SmartPlant P&ID.
- Experience using Bentley design tools.
- Familiarity with MicroStation, Blue Beam and AutoCAD.
- Understanding of instrumentation system workflows and multidisciplinary design coordination.
