Pharmacist – Talent Pipeline (Southern Suburbs, Cape Town)

About the role

Dis‑Chem is expanding its pharmacy network in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town and is creating a talent pipeline for qualified pharmacists. In this permanent position you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines, and supporting the pharmacy team in a busy retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients’ medicine‑related needs, evaluate therapy safety and effectiveness, and provide appropriate advice.
• Dispense prescribed medicines and scheduled substances, and verify prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns.
• Offer pharmacist‑initiated therapy, conduct compounding, manipulation, and packaging of medicines where required.
• Manage medication compliance, follow‑up with patients, and document outcomes.
• Participate in purchasing, importing, storage, and distribution of pharmaceutical products.
• Prepare and submit applications for medicine registration in line with the Medicines and Pharmacy Acts.
• Support pharmaceutical research, development, and public‑health promotion activities.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric and a BPharm (or equivalent) qualification.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• 2–3 years of experience in pharmaceutical practice, including retail pharmacy exposure.
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
• Advantageous: experience in retail/FMCG, a third language, SAP or e‑scripting experience, registered tutor status, or Unisolv experience.
