Pharmacist – Retail Pharmacy (Midrand)

About the role

Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified pharmacist to work at its Chartwell Corner store in Midrand. The role involves dispensing medications, providing pharmaceutical expertise to patients and healthcare professionals, and ensuring safe and effective use of prescription medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Dispensing of medication: accurately interpret scripts, verify patient details, pick, pack, label and counsel patients on proper medication use while complying with SAPC regulations.
• Customer service: assist patients at the dispensary, self‑medication counter and front‑shop, explain medical aid costs and follow up on script tracking.
• Administration: process paperwork for medical‑aid claims, correct rejected scripts, manage authorisations for chronic, HIV/AIDS and oncology medication, and maintain customer profiles.
• Stock control: report low or out‑of‑stock items, facilitate bi‑annual stock takes and exercise cash and asset control.

Required profile

• Essential qualifications: Grade 12/Matric, BPharm or equivalent, registration with the South African Pharmacy Council, 2‑3 years retail pharmacy experience, computer literacy.
• Core competencies: comprehensive medicine knowledge, understanding of retail pharmacy operations, critical thinking, excellent communication, ability to manage stressful situations and meet deadlines.
