Pharmacist Assistant (Post‑Basic Qualified) – Direct Store

About the role

Dis‑Chem is seeking a Post‑Basic Qualified (PBQ) Pharmacist Assistant to join its Direct store in Midrand. You will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, dispensing medications, supporting compounding activities and ensuring safe, compliant pharmacy operations.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense prescription medicines accurately and label them according to SOPs.
• Assist with the sale of Schedule 1‑5 medicines and controlled substances.
• Support compounding of sterile and non‑sterile preparations.
• Re‑package medicines and manage stock control for all scheduled items.
• Process orders, receive deliveries and maintain inventory records.
• Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use and promote health education.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Post‑Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Willingness to work retail hours.
• Advantageous: knowledge of retail/FMCG operations, a third language, experience with SAP and E‑Scripting Unisolv.
