People Consultant – HR Generalist

About the role

We are looking for a People Consultant to deliver a full‑cycle HR function for our business units. The role will manage recruitment, performance management, training and development, industrial relations and general HR administration, and may also supervise a People Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Identify recruitment needs, create job ads, screen CVs, conduct initial interviews and coordinate further interview stages.
• Prepare offer letters, manage onboarding, and ensure new hires complete the engagement pack and mandatory training.
• Administer the performance management system, facilitate scorecard processes, and develop individual development plans.
• Identify training needs, arrange learning solutions, track attendance and follow‑up on learnerships and bursary applications.
• Advise line managers on disciplinary actions, maintain the disciplinary tracking system, and handle poor‑performance cases.
• Provide guidance on industrial‑relations policies, sign off on IR matters, and represent the business in CCMA conciliations.
• Monitor absenteeism, send notifications to absent employees, and communicate risk areas to managers.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR generalist or consultant handling recruitment, onboarding, performance management and training.
• Strong knowledge of industrial‑relations procedures and disciplinary processes.
• Ability to advise and support line managers on HR matters and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple HR processes simultaneously.
