Payroll Officer – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

We are looking for a Payroll Officer to manage restaurant‑level payroll for KFC Africa’s 1,900‑plus staff. The role is a six‑month fixed‑term position based at the Restaurant Support Centre in Bryanston and involves ensuring accurate and timely salary payments while complying with South African legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Import and verify monthly hours into Sage 300 and forward them to restaurants for approval.
• Review overtime, regular hours, leave, bonuses and other allowances, and load salary data accurately.
• Administer deductions such as garnishees, provident fund, savings and AODs.
• Process payroll runs on the 25th and additional runs on the 5th of each month, distribute payslips and handle re‑prints.
• Respond to daily payroll queries within 24 hours and prepare third‑party payment schedules.
• Maintain and reconcile payroll data between HR and Finance systems, upload general ledgers and produce journal entries.
• Manage SARS compliance, generate IRP5 and IT3 documents and implement tax changes.
• Support bargaining council registrations and perform annual allowance updates.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a recognized payroll qualification or certification.
• Minimum five years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a large retail or restaurant environment.
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation (BCEA, LRA, SARS tax regulations) and bargaining council processes.
• Analytical mindset with problem‑solving capability.
