Partner – Corporate & Commercial Law

About the role

We are seeking an accomplished legal practitioner to join a respected boutique commercial law firm as a Partner. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to develop their own practice, advise senior business leaders, and contribute to the firm’s strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex corporate and commercial transactions for prominent clients.
• Grow and transition an established client portfolio while generating new business opportunities.
• Provide commercially astute counsel to boards, executives, investors, and business leaders.
• Mentor and develop junior legal professionals and strengthen specialist capabilities.
• Collaborate across practice areas to deliver integrated commercial solutions.
• Contribute to the firm’s long‑term strategy, growth, and market positioning.

Required profile

• Admission as an Attorney in South Africa.
• Approximately 15+ years of post‑qualification experience in a recognised commercial law environment.
• Current or previous experience as a Partner, Director, Practice Head, or senior legal leader.
• Demonstrated ability to originate, manage, and grow a substantial portable book of business.
• Strong commercial judgement and relationship‑building capability.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in one or more areas such as Corporate and Commercial Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, Banking and Finance, Competition Law, Regulatory Law, Tax, Private Equity, or Dispute Resolution.
