Packaging Printer Assistant (5 positions)

About the role

Our client, a leading paper and plastics packaging and recycling business in Southern Africa, is seeking five Packaging Printer Assistants for its Corrugated division in Port Elizabeth. The role supports machine operators to ensure smooth production, high quality output, and optimal machine availability.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the operator in setting up the corrugated board printing and finishing machine using best practices.
• Provide feedback on Abaca & Shopware when required.
• Support the operator during order runs to maximise productivity.
• Monitor product quality continuously and report any deviations.
• Operate the machine competently in the operator’s absence.
• Follow all supervisor instructions and ISO procedures.
• Motivate, organise and mentor the machine crew.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards within the department.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Trade qualification in Corrugated Board Printing and Finishing Machine Minding.
• Computer literacy.
• Understanding of ink viscosity and colour matching.
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime.
• Proactive, responsible, reliable and detail‑oriented.
• Ability to work independently.
