Packaging Machine Specialist

About the role

The Packaging Machine Specialist maintains, repairs and optimises plant and associated devices at the brewery to keep plant available and product quality high, at minimum cost without compromising standards. The role covers operational support, planned and routine maintenance, problem solving, running repairs and housekeeping.

Key responsibilities

• Operational support: coach, mentor and transfer knowledge of machine operation to shift teams, give expert advice when requested, help solve plant problems, take part in plant optimisation trials and upskill process artisans on machine setups and restorations.
• Planned maintenance: take part in maintenance planning meetings, keep the backlog to the minimum hours, carry out work during the planned maintenance window, assist colleagues, take part in maintenance postmortems and report problems to the Maintenance Planner.
• Routine maintenance: clean, lubricate and inspect equipment, carry out condition monitoring, and escalate uncovered problems to the Maintenance Planner.
• Problem solving: apply the correct approach to fix problems, help colleagues, and take part in AB-Report, SDCA and PDCA when requested.
• Housekeeping and safety: follow work instructions and AB InBev policies, apply 5S principles, raise and close safety issues, and uphold food safety and quality.
• Running repairs: carry out or support repairs on request, call in specialists or contractors when needed, transfer major work to the engineering workshop, complete SAP entries and plan out-of-scope work for the next maintenance window.

Required profile

• N6 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or higher qualification.
• Trade test qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Millwright.
• Knowledge or experience of working in a production environment, particularly in FMCG.
