Packaging Team Leader

About the role

The Packaging Team Leader leads the packaging team to safely, consistently and cost-effectively deliver the production plan with superior quality. The role is hands-on and on-the-floor, turning strategy into shift-ready execution while fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Safety and environment: enforce SHE standards, PPE, SAM, LOTOTO, PTW and machine guarding; run safety observations, toolbox talks, risk assessments and audits; manage incidents, near misses and 5S/housekeeping
• Quality assurance: complete process and product checks and record SPC charts and MES/VPO data; verify and trend quality data, trigger reaction plans and lead QFR, 5 Why and abnormality reports
• Cost and resource management: track line losses and material usage, optimise manpower and overtime, and follow budgets and approval matrices
• Production management: interpret and execute the daily/weekly production plan, monitor OSE in real time, support artisans during breakdowns, ensure robust shift handovers and complete end-of-shift reports
• Leadership and development: build team autonomy, coach on VPO methods and standard work, run one-on-ones, TNA and competency assessments, and manage attendance and workforce issues

Required profile

• National Diploma or equivalent in Engineering (Elec, Mech, Industrial, Instrumental); a Bachelor's degree in Engineering is an added advantage
• Minimum 2-5 years of FMCG/manufacturing experience and 3-5 years of factory production experience
• Completed Packaging Traineeship, ABInBev Leadership or Artisan Training (planning experience is an added advantage)
• Proven shift production expertise, discipline, problem-solving skills and a drive for continuous improvement
