Packaging Engineer - Packaging Pipeline

About the role

The Packaging Engineer is responsible for the optimum use of plant, raw materials and people in the packaging hall, so that quality product is produced at minimum cost while meeting customer requirements and complying with legislation. The role covers asset care, plant reliability, plant optimisation, team leadership and safety and housekeeping, and is advertised as a Packaging Pipeline position.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and audit the asset care plan, including budgetary control and training needs
• Own the reliability and uptime of the packaging hall, verify routine and planned maintenance and maintenance system data integrity
• Take part in plant optimisation trials, evaluate new equipment, analyse performance and failure data and sign off modifications
• Build continuous improvement into engineering team goals and run regular goal reviews
• Lead the engineering team, set goals, run one-on-one and performance reviews and develop training plans
• Enforce safety and housekeeping procedures, including the OSH Act, and correct unsafe practices

Required profile

• BSc in Engineering or equivalent; a Government Certificate of Competence is highly advantageous
• At least 5 years' experience in production maintenance management with deep asset management expertise
• Experience managing and running a high-speed packaging line is highly advantageous
• At least 3 years' experience managing people
