About the role

A specialist ophthalmologist practice is looking for a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant to support the doctor in patient care. The position is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the remuneration is market-related and depends on skill and experience.

Key responsibilities

Take patient history and test visual acuity and autorefract
Dilate pupils and carry out additional tests such as OCT, topography and visual fields
Support the ophthalmologist during consultations with clinical notes and prescriptions
Support the ophthalmologist with in-room procedures
Compile reports, authorisation requests and PMB submissions

Required profile

Matric
Previous work experience in a medical practice
Team player with empathy and commitment to providing the best care to patients
Ophthalmic Assistant certification preferred

Required skills

Computer literacy
Afrikaans and English
