Occupational Therapist – RehabMatters (Sandton)

About the role

The role involves delivering occupational therapy assessment and treatment to adult patients at RehabMatters Sandton and Intercare Sandton, a sub‑acute and rehabilitation hospital. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support patients’ recovery, independence and quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of physical function, activities of daily living and cognition.
• Provide hands‑on therapy, coping and adaptive strategies, cognitive therapy, pacing, fatigue management and home‑adaptation interventions.
• Educate patients on body mechanics and self‑care techniques to empower recovery.
• Coordinate care with physiotherapists, speech therapists and other professionals for holistic treatment.
• Document progress, update treatment plans and maintain accurate clinical records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and active malpractice insurance.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in adult rehabilitation, preferably in neuro‑rehabilitation settings.
• South African citizenship or a valid work visa.
• Valid driver’s licence and personal car for travel between units.
• Proficiency in clinical documentation and basic IT platforms.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment of physical function, ADL and cognition.
• Therapeutic intervention including manual handling and transfer techniques.
• Patient education on body mechanics and self‑care.
• Clinical documentation and use of basic IT systems.
