Nursing Assistant for PROTECT Project (Lesotho)

About the role

The PROTECT project of the Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation in Lesotho is seeking a full‑time Nursing Assistant on a fixed‑term contract. You will work with the district team to deliver mobile‑clinic services to adolescents and young people, focusing on HIV, TB, STI and COVID‑19 prevention, testing and education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide health education to adolescents and young people on services offered through the mobile clinic.
• Conduct STI, TB and COVID‑19 screening for adolescents and young people.
• Deliver HIV testing services (HTS) to adolescents and young people via the mobile clinic.
• Maintain up‑to‑date registers and ensure accurate record keeping of all activities.
• Link and follow up clients for continued care and treatment continuity.
• Assist the project nurse with reporting and scaling up sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services in the community.
• Coordinate with demand creators to mobilise communities for service uptake.
• Perform any other duties assigned by administration.

Required profile

• Certificate in Nursing Assistant or Diploma in General Nursing.
• Current registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council.
• Minimum two years’ experience in TB and HIV/AIDS care and treatment.
• Knowledge of TB/HIV screening, testing, tracing and linkage.
• Experience working with children, adolescents or young people is an advantage.
• Willingness to work flexible hours to meet project targets.
