National Sales Manager

About the role

A well‑established South African supplier of tungsten carbide cutting tools is seeking a hands‑on National Sales Manager to lead a team of eight Technical Sales Engineers. Based in Edenvale, the role combines B2B sales leadership, technical credibility and team development to drive sustainable revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the national Technical Sales Engineer team, ensuring achievement of sales targets and performance standards.
• Conduct field visits to coach sales and customer‑engagement skills, and collaborate with the Technical Applications Manager on technical development.
• Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with company growth objectives, identify market opportunities and manage territory planning.
• Prepare sales forecasts and budgets, monitor revenue, gross profit and key performance indicators, and manage pricing decisions within authority.
• Improve sales processes, CRM usage and pipeline management while ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Support strategic customer relationship development, key customer visits and commercial matters.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering, technical or sales qualification; engineering background strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience leading a B2B sales team with a proven track record of revenue growth.
• Strong commercial and financial understanding, including forecasting and pricing analysis.
• Solid knowledge of metal‑cutting tools, machining processes and industrial manufacturing operations.
• Ability to hold credible technical discussions with customers and Technical Sales Engineers.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel nationally.
