MV-LV Electrical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced MV-LV Electrical Engineer to lead the design and supervision of electrical distribution systems for mining, data‑centre, water‑treatment and battery‑storage projects. The role involves delivering technically robust solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design electrical distribution networks for mining, data centres, water treatment and battery storage plants.
• Conduct earthing and lightning protection studies and produce detailed designs.
• Develop motor starting and protection schemes.
• Prepare technical enquiry documentation, including scope, specifications, drawings, datasheets and Bills of Quantity.
• Perform complex engineering calculations, analysis and review of design documents.
• Carry out audits, inspections, factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing.
• Execute on‑site quality inspections and commissioning activities as required.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of experience in industrial or renewable electrical applications.
• Electrical or mechatronic tertiary qualification.
• Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Proven experience in design and construction supervision of LV and MV switchgear, plant reticulation, motor starting, earthing, lightning protection, harmonics and power quality.
• Familiarity with ETAP or DigSilent software (preferable) and BIM workflow standardisation (advantageous).
• Strong collaborative attitude and ability to resolve complex technical issues.
