Municipal Manager – Local Government

About the role

The Matatiele Local Municipality seeks a senior Municipal Manager to lead the administration, ensure sustainable service delivery and uphold financial governance in line with municipal legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the provision of municipal services and develop mechanisms to assess community satisfaction.
• Manage income, expenditure, assets and liabilities, ensuring compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act and related regulations.
• Advise political structures, facilitate stakeholder participation and implement council decisions.
• Lead strategic, operational and financial planning, risk management and project delivery.

Required profile

• Matriculation (Grade 12) and a NQF Level 7 degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Social Science, Law or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in local government, with proven financial management expertise.
• Knowledge of the Municipal Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations and related legislation.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• General computer literacy and ability to produce formal reports.

What we offer

• Total remuneration package ranging from R1,716,262 to R1,887,050 per annum, negotiable within the specified scale.
