Multiple vacancies – Billing Clerk, Cashier, Meter Reader, Clerical Assistant

About the role

The Revenue Division of the Financial Services department is recruiting for a range of permanent positions including a Billing Clerk, a Cashier (based in Sasolburg), Business and General Meter Readers, and a Senior Clerical Assistant. These roles support billing operations, cash handling, meter data collection, and administrative assistance within the municipality.

Key responsibilities

• Process billing data, capture meter readings, verify information, and assist with monthly billing runs.
• Handle cash payments, issue receipts, reconcile cash, and maintain transaction records.
• Conduct field meter readings for businesses and municipal departments, report faults, and support connections/disconnections.
• Maintain accurate master files, update consumer details, and support reporting and reconciliation activities.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (or equivalent) with relevant subjects such as Accounting, Mathematics or Computer Literacy.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience for most roles; 6‑9 months for the Cashier position.
• Professional Driving Permit required for meter‑reading positions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office / Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of billing systems (e.g., Solar) and MS Excel.
• Professional Driving Permit (PDP) for field work.
