MTC Teacher Trainer

About the role

The MTC Teacher Trainer is a lead support role within the Missionary Training Center, responsible for ensuring missionaries receive high‑quality instruction. The position involves coaching teachers, delivering individual and group training, and continuously improving teaching performance.

Key responsibilities

• Train and evaluate teachers and missionaries, dedicating roughly 75% of time to coaching and in‑service training.
• Provide teachers with curriculum materials, policy updates, and observe classroom delivery.
• Facilitate teacher improvement initiatives based on identified needs.
• Assist the Training Manager in onboarding new teachers and ensuring mastery of the approved MTC curriculum.
• Lead curriculum updates or development of new instructional content.
• Step in as a classroom teacher when required.
• Advocate for missionary well‑being, creating an optimal learning environment.
• Handle day‑to‑day supervisory matters, including disciplinary issues and merit recommendations.
• Report missionary progress and teacher performance to the Training Manager.
• Participate in hiring processes, candidate assessments, and training resource coordination.

Required profile

• Current and valid temple recommend (or eligibility to hold one).
• Returned missionary with at least six months experience as an MTC teacher.
• Preferred: one year of experience in teaching, training, or tutoring.
• Fluency in a non‑native language (excluding English or ESL assignments).
• Demonstrated knowledge of MTC language‑learning strategies and methodologies.
