Motor Mechanic – ECU Diagnostics

About the role

WeBuyCars is looking for mechanics to join its team at The Richmond branch in Cape Town. The role covers service, repair and maintenance of customer vehicles, including mechanical and electronic diagnostics, ECU fault finding and electrical repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform service, repair and maintenance on customer vehicles
• Carry out mechanical and electronic diagnostics
• Diagnose faults and troubleshoot ECU units
• Repair all electrical components and wiring on motor vehicles
• Repair wiring and ECU units
• Coding keys and programming ECUs
• Order and source parts
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment

Required profile

• Trade test motor mechanic (red seal)
• 5-7 years' experience in diagnostics and fault finding
• Valid driver's licence
• No criminal record, presentable appearance and sober habits
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure and to train co-workers
• Team player who sets high standards and works to professional standards

Required skills

• Working knowledge of electrical DBs and wiring
• Experience with diagnostics equipment and ECUs
• Strong knowledge of starting and alternator testing, and of ECU fault finding, key coding and ECU programming
• Computer literate
