Money Laundering Compliance Officer

About the role

The Money Laundering Compliance Officer (MLCO) will lead the bank's Anti‑Money Laundering (AML), Counter‑Terrorist Financing (CTF), Counter‑Proliferation Financing (CPF) and sanctions compliance programmes. The role ensures the institution meets all regulatory obligations while providing independent oversight and advisory support to business units.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain AML, CTF, CPF and sanctions compliance frameworks aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
• Monitor compliance with legislation, directives and guidance; act as the designated AML compliance officer where required.
• Liaise with regulators, supervisory authorities and law‑enforcement agencies; coordinate inspections, audits and information requests.
• Identify, assess, monitor and mitigate financial‑crime risks across products, services, channels and customer segments.
• Oversee customer due‑diligence (CDD) processes, including KYC, enhanced due‑diligence (EDD) and periodic reviews.
• Manage transaction‑monitoring systems, review suspicious‑activity investigations and ensure timely filing of SARs.
• Supervise sanctions‑screening programmes and provide guidance on sanctions risks.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining AML/CTF/CPF and sanctions compliance programmes.
• Strong knowledge of applicable legislation, regulatory guidance and industry standards.
• Proven ability to conduct enterprise‑wide AML risk assessments and recommend mitigating controls.
• Experience liaising with regulators, supervisory bodies and law‑enforcement agencies.
• Capability to oversee customer onboarding, KYC, EDD and periodic reviews.
• Ability to manage transaction‑monitoring processes, investigate alerts and file SARs within regulatory timeframes.
